Our team has been following the Charfen method and several months back we started holding our team meetings. We have a 15 minutes team huddle every single day and once a week we have a longer one to a two-hour team meeting. When we first started holding these meetings, it felt awkward and we worried that our team would come in with the idea that meetings suck and not be actively engaged. What we found is that the huddles can actually be a lot of fun. Some days it does take putting that energy over the top to keep things fun. That energy, that being theatrical and over animated, that is what makes people react. It doesn’t matter if it’s just my team or if it’s producing content to share with everybody else.
When that over the top energy or something to get them excited about is missing, things tend to fall flat and the energy drops and things go nowhere. I have discovered that in our team huddles and meetings my engagement level greatly affects everybody else and causes an energy domino effect. It’s fun to experiment with and see what happens to the energy of the team.
The next time that you’re talking with a customer or someone on your team, start to play with that energy level. See if you notice how you raising your energy starts to raise theirs as well. Experiment with that and pay attention. It’s a fun thing to play with and it’s definitely an important tool to keep in mind as you’re interacting with your team or your customers.
