It all started a couple months ago when Kyla, my valuable dedicated employee, mentioned that her divorce would be final in a few weeks and she wanted to do something to celebrate. “Would you go skydiving with me?” With absolutely no hesitation my mind ran to my bucket list and I could picture checking this one off the list. “YES!” We looked at the calendar and adjusted for my travel schedule – which landed us making the jump the day before my fortieth birthday… perfect!
The day of our scheduled jump… I wake up to rain. All day is spent glancing out the window to just find more rain and dark clouds. Around 1pm we get the call that we are going to have to reschedule. Kyla has been so keyed up all day that she was practically bouncing off the walls and kept asking me if I was excited. I didn’t feel it – and was curious about why, but wrote it off to the rain.
Fast forward one week. Friday morning: beautiful, warm and sunny. This is it! All day as I’m working to complete outstanding tasks, I’m waiting for the adrenaline to kick in. Still, no. As I’m driving out to the launch site my thoughts are torn between tasks left uncompleted at the office and wondering when I was going to get nervous.
We step up to the counter where we have to complete the waiver. Now, I had to take a photo of this because it was literally a book… with many questions alluding to the fact that I was LITERALLY signing my life away. More
Those of you that know me well will know I love all things cars. Even getting dirty and turning wrenches. I find there’s something so satisfying in putting in some good honest hard work and seeing immediate results.
So there I was, lying on my back underneath our 1968 Camaro, removing the bolts that were holding the driveline in place. Seemed a simple enough job… four bolts and matching nuts. The first two were simple – standard 9/16” wrench, matching ¼” socket. All told less than five minutes. Perfect! My husband is going to be so impressed with how quickly I get this done!
Then come the third and fourth bolts. The socket is too large to fit. There isn’t enough room above the nut to get the wrench in place. I try different sockets, nothing fits. More
One of my guilty pleasures is watching shark week. Over the years, Discovery channel has done a great job growing and promoting the buzz around their annual event.
This year, I found myself paying attention to the main sponsors for the shark week event. In case you haven’t been a TV junkie like me, the two main sponsors they have been promoting are: Dunkin Doughnuts, and Volkswagen. The reason I found myself paying attention was the first time I saw it I thought – what the heck do those things have to do with sharks in the ocean?
But then I realized that they found a fantastic way to play in to the huge media coverage that Discovery was already putting on. As a quick recap: here’s what Dunkin Doughnuts did. They sponsored a “take a bite take a pic” contest where they asked viewers to take a “selfie” of themselves taking a bite of their favorite snack and submit it to them. This was promoted as a graphic on many of the shows while running – and Discovery is doing the live “after” show every night – where they talk social media trends and talk about this promotion during the show as well. Brilliant! Great play right into the taking a bite….
For those of you that know me, I’ve been involved in small business marketing for more than 20 years. So why now all of the sudden am I so gung-ho on Infusionsoft? The short answer is that it removes the necessity of using many different systems, saves time, and makes me and my clients more effective marketers.
To fully tell the story, let me start with my introduction to the software to begin with. Last year, I was asked by two of my clients in the same month to take the emails templates that I had designed for them and add them into their new CRM and email marketing system. They each provided me with a login and I jumped in to add their info. I realized in working in the system that it was very user friendly and intuitive. I had been in the market myself for a CRM system so figured I’d take a closer look, and went online to request a demo.
What I discovered during the demonstration is that Infusionsoft had managed to very nicely combine into one system what I was doing with Sugar or Salesforce, plus Mailchimp or Constant Contact, plus excel spreadsheets and sales management software. Plus, in combining all of the systems into one, I was able to quickly get numbers and reports detailing the effectiveness of the marketing elements in place, and the end ROI. The magic of saving time with one system and strong reporting was like a lightbulb went off in my head. I got so excited during the demo that I signed up on the spot. I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t found out about this software before – I had been doing everything the hard way!
I started telling my current clients about this new software I found and how awesome I thought it was and the energy was contagious – everyone introduced to Infusionsoft caught the bug just like me.
I went online and worked through all of the how-to documents and videos, and signed up to attend ICON – the Infusionsoft annual conference. At the conference I learned even more and became so excited about even more potential – I signed up to become certified at the Infusionsoft headquarters, figuring that I wanted to get as much training as I could.
What I didn’t know at the time was that as a certified consultant I could also resell Infusionsoft. This was extremely exciting as well because this means that I get access to great pricing and can pass this on to my customers. So here we are – are we only doing Infusionsoft? No. But we do require that any customers we are designing and developing entire marketing plans, we require that they use Infusionsoft because it just makes for such a better and more effective marketing system. I have learned along the way that those serious about growing their business past a certain level absolutely must have a system in place to automate processes and some communications, so a systems like Infusionsoft becomes absolutely imperative.
We are still the same company with the same great design aesthetics and morals – we’ve just added another feather to our hat. If this sounds intriguing and you want to learn more give me a call or email me – I’d be happy to share with you if I think this is a right fit for you.
